Dinner in Sydney City

On Friday night, my family and I had dinner down on the Harbour with an American family who were visiting for a few days.

What I wore:

Shirt: Esprit
Jeans: Gap
Bag: vintage Chanel from the 1970's with an Hermès scarf
Necklace: 18th Century locket

I love this outfit and because of the unseasonably cold day, I was able to break out the winter clothes! These boots are relatively comfortable and even though I have wide feet, I can still fit them without bursting the seams. As for the bag; it is a classic! My grandmother bought this bag from Chanel in the 1970's, and while she refuses to call it vintage, I have no hesitation in doing so. I also had this Hermès scarf lying around and think the colours complement the bag really nicely.

We started at The Rocks and walked around to the Opera House and dad acted as a tour guide for the Americans we were with. We ate at a chinese restaurant at the Opera Key arcade and we sat outside even though it was quite cold. Thank goodness for those outdoor gas heaters! The food was great and the view was superb! Looking at these pictures makes me wonder why I am so desperate to get out of here, Sydney is actually a really beautiful city and I'm sure I'll miss it when I'm gone.

My iPhone 4S recently updated to get the iPhone 5 software, so I tested out the Panorama option and this is one of my more successful attempts.

On an exciting note, my blog has now got over 50 followers! I am so thrilled! You guys are the best, and I hope you continue to read my blog!

It's my birthdaaaaaay!

It's my birthday! Happy seventeenth to me!! I seriously cannot believe that I am 17! It's so crazy to think that I finish high school next year. Time really does fly.

My actual birthday is on the 4th of October and on that day I went out for lunch and dinner with my twin sister and our parents. My brother was away camping with a friend so he wasn't around.

Yesterday, the 7th of October, was spent with my grandparents and cousins having a low-key celebration. My twin sister Emma and I made our cupcakes and hand decorated each one, and I think they turned out really cute.

One of the joys of being 17 is that I am eligible to get my Provisional license, which basically means that once I have completed 120 hours of driving and a driving test, I get my licence and no longer have to drive around with a parent in the car. I am beyond excited! I am so close to the required 120 hours so hopefully I'll have my licence in a few weeks time. Fingers crossed!

Blazer: Cotton On
Singlet: Bonds
Shorts: Riders
Shoes: Seed
Charm bracelet: Thomas Sabo
Necklace: Antique locket

I got my Thomas Sabo charm bracelet a few years ago for my birthday and I love it to death! I have accumulated these charms over the years and each of them is so beautiful. I can also remember who i got each charm from and whether it was for a birthday or Christmas. I love Thomas Sabo bracelets as they are so different to Pandora bracelets, which everyone seems to have these days. Thomas Sabo's are more unique and I don't know very many people who have them. You can check out the website here.

The Launch of Topshop and Topman in Sydney

The crazy long line to get in
The George Street alleyway that lead to the entrance

My wristband

The J.W Anderson collection is in stock at the Sydney store

I had the absolute honour of attending the grand opening of London brand Topshop's first store in Sydney. The day the invite arrived was one of the greatest days of my life, no exaggeration! The store occupies the Gowings Building on the corner of Market and George Street in the Sydney CBD. The store is in prime location, it is right near the QVB, across the road from Myer and right down the street from the Pitt Street Westfield, aka the best shopping destination in Sydney city!

At the opening, I was able to browse through all of the amazing clothes they have in stock and they certainly did not disappoint. The racks were filled with loads of sparkly fabrics and brightly coloured garments, I just wanted to buy everything! The event was jam packed and I spotted a few local celebrities too. I didn't buy anything because the line for the change room line was very long and I didn't want to have to change out of my dress so I have decided to go back another day and get a personal shopper to take me around the shop.

The simplicity of Topshop is one of the things that keeps me coming back to it. The clothes have a timeless feel and an air of elegance. No matter what season or collection, their designs are always very impressive and also wearable.

Attending this launch was an absolute dream come true! I have been obsessed with fashion since I was a little girl and attending events like these is at the forefront of fashion, which makes me feel so blessed that I even got an invite. I love the fashion industry more than words can say and I definitely want to spend the rest of my life working in this incredible industry. Fashion is such a broad and avant-garde industry that is always changing and evolving as new designers come in and challenge the rules. I love that every season brings new collections and promising new talent. I hope that one day I will be sitting in my office at the Vogue US headquarters (preferably on the West Coast, I love LA) writing a feature about the fresh new talent I witnessed at Paris, Milan and New York Fashion Weeks. If you're gonna dream, you may as well dream big!

It is going to be so great having a Topshop store in Sydney. I can always pop in and grab a few things after school if I have to. Topshop is so versatile and definitely appeals to a huge audience because of the variety of styles in their clothes and accessories.

What I wore

Emma and I before the event

Dress: Princess Polly
Shoes: Steve Madden "Caryssa"
Bag: vintage Glomesh
Geode ring: Colette by Colette Hayman
Pinky ring: family heirloom
Arrow Necklace: Colette by Colette Hayman
Bangles: Colette by Colette Hayman

I literally bought this dress the week before the event because I wasn't completely happy with the previous one hundred outfits I had considered wearing. The Princess Polly dress is my new favourite wardrobe staple. White is very on trend this season and I love the style of the dress. I have been looking for a gorgeous white dress for a while now and I am so happy that I found this one. The lace is nice and the tulle skirt is so soft and feminine. These Steve Madden's are my favourite heels as they are so sparkly and tall. Although I am about 5'8 in flats, I refuse to give up these 13cm stilts because they are just fabulous! They are also quite comfortable which is an added bonus as I was on feet all night.

I also love the geode ring from Colette by Colette Hayman. It is so funky and different. It's simple and can be worn with almost anything.

All in all, this event was absolutely amazing and I had the time of my life. Welcome to Sydney, Topshop and Topman!

A day of family fun

Yesterday was the 1st of October, which marked my parents' 19th wedding anniversary. It's amazing to think that they have been together for so long and they are still going strong. My dad planned a day of family fun, which included a quick stop to the church they got married in. It is the same church that my dad's sister got married in and a few of my cousins were baptised in.

After a couple more stops, including the house my parents first bought/ the house I lived in until I was 4 and their wedding reception venue) was the Shangri-La Hotel, on Cumberland street in The Rocks. We had lunch at cafe Mix overlooking Circular Quay and it was lovely.

The Rocks is one of my favourite places in the city as it is so cultural and beautiful. Most of the buildings look the same as they did back when the area was first established. It is a very historic area and as designated driver for the day it was amazing to drive around and just take in everything The Rocks has to offer. It was surprisingly quiet as it was a public holiday, so it was extra nice to spend the day there. Plus it is in prime location as it is within walking distance of the Sydney CBD, Circular Quay and the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge. Here are a few photos I snapped whilst on my way to the Shangri-La hotel:

The structure at the end of the street is the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

I only managed to snap these two photos of my outfit during the day, but it's better than nothing.

Dress: Supré (from five years ago, I was surprised it still fit!)
Bag: Mulberry
Shoes: Urban
Sunglasses: Ray Ban
Pearl Bracelet: Peeptoe
Coral Bracelet: Agatha Paris
Phone case: Juicy Couture

My next post will be my highly anticipated post about the Topshop launch.
Keep posted!
